We operate out of 42 Pinemeadow Blvd, which means Scarborough properties are served before the trucks travel anywhere else. After an overnight snowfall this is the difference between being cleared before work and being cleared at lunchtime.
What the properties are like
Most of what we look after here is post-war: bungalows and side-splits in Bendale, Agincourt, Wexford and Malvern, sitting on deep lots with long single-width driveways. Those driveways hold a lot of snow relative to their width, and there is often nowhere obvious to put it by February. We plan snow storage with you in November rather than improvising in the middle of a storm.
Closer to the Bluffs the lots change character — slope, drainage runs and erosion at the rear become the thing that matters, and we grade and plant accordingly rather than just cutting grass.
Snow behaves differently near the lake
South Scarborough sits close enough to Lake Ontario that we get freezing rain and wet, heavy snow more often than the dry accumulation they get further north. Timing the salt correctly matters more here than raw plowing capacity, so anti-icing before a freezing-rain event is part of the standard contract rather than an add-on.
