Aurora and Newmarket get a real winter. Being this far north of the lake means more accumulation, colder sustained temperatures and a season that starts earlier and ends later than it does in Toronto — often by two or three weeks at each end.
A separate winter route
We do not service this area by extending a Toronto run, because a truck that has already cleared thirty properties arrives too late to be useful in a heavier snowfall. Aurora and Newmarket are run as their own route with their own start time. That is also why we cap the number of contracts we take here: past a certain count we could not hold the completion window.
Bigger lots, different summer work
Properties here tend to be larger, with more open lawn and more room for beds and mature planting. The summer work skews toward mowing volume and fertilisation rather than the tight detail work that dominates in the city. Below −10 °C plain rock salt stops doing anything useful, so winter contracts in this area default to a calcium or magnesium blend for the cold stretches rather than piling on more salt that will not melt.
